Acianthera

ACIANTHERA — род орхидей, произрастающих в тропической части Западного полушария и включающий в основном виды, относящиеся к Pleurothallis [1]. Впервые описаны в 1842[3], но до недавнего времени род так и не получил своего широкого распространения. В пределах рода выделяется более 200 видов, которые встречаются от Антильских островов и Мексики до Аргентины и Уругвая. Центром наибольшего разнообразия является Бразилия [2]. Некоторые виды имеют очень ограниченный ареал, например, Acianthera unguicallosa — эндемик острова Сокорро архипелага Ревилья-Хихедо.
Большинство видов ранее относились к Pleurothallis подрода Acianthera. Это расщепление является результатом недавнего секвенирования ДНК. Род включает, в основном, эпифитные орхидеи, очень мало наземных видов. Они встречаются во влажных и туманных лесах на высоте 250-2600 м над уровнем моря, довольно часто на берегах ручьев и рек. Некоторые виды можно найти в вечнозеленых лесах или в сухих лесах на равнинах Боливии. Другие виды довольно популярны на плантациях какао и цитрусовых, но также и в скалистых районах Бразилии [4].
